Solution Graphics

Marin Hills

Acrylic paint on 14' by 26' wall in a private residence in San Rafael, California, 2009

The wall before the mural was painted.  I worked from this photo and others to develop and sketch image ideas for the clients.

One of the color sketches I sent to the clients before beginning the painting.

I began at the right-hand end of the wall, at the top of the stairs, and slowly made my way across to the left.

Here I'm on the scaffolding painting flying swallows, the last element in the painting.

The finished mural, which is visible from the living room, dining area, and kitchen!

Ta-daaaaa!

Exotic Beach Panorama

Acrylic on canvas, 30" x 90", December 2005

Commissioned by Pacific Tuna Adventures; installed in ship's dining hall.

Universe by Hubble

Acrylic on three canvases, mounted to a hinged maple frame, approx. 60" w x 66" h, 2006

This painting, done on a custom-built folding privacy screen, is based on a photograph taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of a region within the Small Megallanic Cloud, a nearby galaxy.  This sprawling group of emerging stars, older stars, and interstellar dust is 100 light years across, and is a fascinating riot of colors, shapes, and mysteries.  The client and I were both fascinated by this new picture from space, so it was a pleasure to produce this project for her.

Santa Barbara Fog

Another screen, with a more earth-bound subject.  This is a view from the client's window of the sun breaking through a morning fog.
