The roger is the principal unit of currency on New Island. 1,000 were minted in 2003 and about 500 are still uncirculated. The solid-brass roger is 38 mm in diameter, and the same size as a US fifty-cent piece. Rogers will take on a deeper bronze-like patina when carried around for a while with other change. The exchange rate is currently $22.50 US for one roger. Each one is shipped with an information card, such as why it is called a “roger”.
