The Hum - An Extraordinary Journey of Awakening

$34.00

An engaging coming-of-age science-fiction fantasy that takes place on New Island, a little-known spot in the Indian Ocean whose residents hear the Hum. Paperback, 335 pages with many maps and illustrations.

Gordy Love also hears The Hum, an occasional pleasant humming almost like that of an ancient choir. In 1964, a family tragedy shocks young Gordy into a dream that sets him on a raft built by his neighbor-and-friend Mr. Barnes. After three weeks at sea, a storm dumps Gordy onto an unknown shore, where he is soon arrested on charges of espionage by the Soviet Navy, which controlled the island during those dark Cold War years. Gordy is soon rescued by two civilian cafeteria workers who, while delivering his meals, see The Hum in his eyes. They launch him on an epic journey around the Island, as they call it, where Gordy meets many other Islanders, including Roselin Bell, who not only hears the Hum, but has discovered its potentially catastrophic dark side. Will Gordy save the day, and Roselin, and himself?
